IAM Local Lodge 2339H member Sarah Gray has been awarded a Union Plus Scholarship to attend the National Labor College (NLC) in Silver Spring, MD. A flight attendant for Continental Express Jet, Gray also serves on the Communications Committee for Local 2339H in Houston, TX, and hopes a degree in Labor Education will give her the tools to get even more involved in her union.
“I used to just know about my job and my local union,” says Gray. “Now I’m learning so much about the labor movement, and I feel that it will really help me not only in my job, but also in my ability to communicate with other union members.” The $1,184 scholarship will cover her tuition and books.
The Union Plus NLC Scholarship Fund has provided more than $190,000 since its creation in 2002. The NLC is the nation’s only accredited college exclusively dedicated to educating union members, leaders and staff.
