Machinists at Alaska Airlines Ratify New Contract

District 142 announced that Ramp Service and Stores Agent members at Alaska Airlines ratified a new six-year contract. The new agreement covers approximately 600 Ramp Service and Stores Agent employees at the carrier and was approved by 91 percent of those voting.

“The negotiating committee was able to craft an agreement that provides wage increases and improved job security,” said Transportation GVP Sito Pantoja. “The overwhelming support from members made this agreement possible.”

The accord includes a 10 percent base wage hike over the term of the agreement, enhanced merger and job protection, $2,000 in signing bonuses, increased  premium pay and improved benefits and work-rules.

“Both committees are to be commended for their no-nonsense approach to this round of negotiations, which enabled a full and complete agreement to be negotiated and ratified prior to the amendable date of July 19, 2012,” said District 142 President Tom Higginbotham. “Such an accomplishment is a rare occurrence in this industry.”

The IAM represents approximately 3,000 Ramp Service, Stores Agent, Customer Service and Office and Clerical employees at Alaska Airlines. More information about the IAM at Alaska Airlines is available at www.iamdl142.org.
