Members of Local 992 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, have ratified a new collective agreement with Dettson Incorporated.
“We began negotiations on June 7 and came to a tentative agreement by September 15,” explained Grand Lodge Representative Mario Clermont. “This is a new employer and the creation of a joint labor relations committee to look over the contract application for the next five years and the reactivation of the Health and Safety Committee are positive steps.”
The five-year agreement provides wage increases of 2.5 percent in each of the first four years and 3 percent in the fifth year. Other agreement highlights include one additional statutory holiday; one additional vacation day after each five years of seniority after 18 years and four weeks of training for quality inspectors.
The 91 members manufacture furnaces for the domestic home heating market.
