Machinists Ink New Deal with Calgary Stampede

Members of IAM Local Lodge 99 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, have ratified a new one-year collective agreement with the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede Limited, an organization that hosts community events and operates a casino and racetrack. It also hosts the “Calgary Stampede,” an annual festival that includes live music, a rodeo and a parade.

The agreement provides a signing bonus along with a 3 percent wage increase across the entire wage table retroactive to October 1, 2013. Other agreement highlights include:

  • Protected hours of work for all part-time workers from all seasonal, casual and temporary hires
  • Two new full-time positions – Laborer 2 and Laborer 3
  • Increased annual boot allowance
  • Lead hand positions receive 5 percent above base rate after four years

The 40 members provide maintenance services at the Exhibition and Stampede.
