Machinists President Rallies Support for Sen. Murray

The leader of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers today urged union members in Washington state to support Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, calling her a proven champion for aerospace jobs.

“From local apprentice programs to the $100 billion tanker fight, Sen. Murray has always been there for the working families in this state,” said IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger at a rally held at District 751 headquarters in Seattle, WA. “This election is a clear choice between someone who fights to keep jobs here, and someone else who helped out-of-state lawmakers steal jobs with tax handouts.”

Buffenbarger also spoke about ‘Bite Back,’a two-minute IAM internet advertisement produced by Ur Union of Unemployed, also known as UCubed. The ad urges millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

“The ad is designed to remind unemployed voters who stole their jobs, gutted their savings and then blocked their unemployment extensions,” said Buffenbarger, who said that America’s unemployed would be the new swing voters in the upcoming elections.
