Marine Base Contractors in North Carolina Vote IAM Yes


IAM Organizing Committee for EMI Services in NC

One hundred thirty three workers for EMI Services, LLC at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, NC voted IAM Yes for union representation.

The Service Contract workers include all full-time and regular part-time maintenance and support employees. Laborers, warehouse specialists, carpenters, electricians, electronic technicians, fuel distribution system mechanics, heavy equipment mechanics, HVAC mechanics, general maintenance workers, locksmiths, plumbers, pipe fitters, sheet metal workers, welders, truck drivers, control technicians, general clerks, quality inspectors, and estimator/planners for the bases will be represented by the IAM.

Team members and employees sounded off about winning the organizing effort.

“I wanted a secure future for my family and myself,” said Eugene Paumgardhen.

Don Kinnett simply said, “I am looking forward to having a say in my future.”

The workers join District Lodge 110 in North Carolina. The IAM represents Service Contract workers at several bases in North Carolina.

“Congratulations to Grand Lodge Rep. Joe Greaser and DL 110 DBR Tony Cruz on a job well done,” said Southern Territory Organizing Leader Dave Porter. “We have several ongoing organizing efforts in North Carolina, as we grow our organization in the area.”
