Members at Pax River Ratify Contract Improvements

The Local 4 Negotiating Committee participated in an intense week of training in the Negotiation Preparation for Bargaining Committees Class at the William W. Winpisinger Education & Technology Center in Hollywood, MD earlier this  year.

IAM members employed by DynCorp at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Southern MD, voted overwhelming Sunday to ratify a new three year accord. The new deal features wage increases of 4 percent, 3.5 percent and 3.5 percent over the life of the agreement. IAM negotiators also made improvements to the IAM National Pension Plan and substantial enhancements to employee medical coverage. The bargaining committee also increased vacation accrual, bereavement leave and job classification pay premiums as well as adding a new classification.

Local 4 representatives utilized social networking tools in conjunction with their website to communicate with the membership, providing daily and sometimes hourly updates of the ongoing negotiations.

“The Negotiating Committee had complete solidarity with the membership, and the members had confidence in their Committee,” said District 4 Business Representative Rick Compher. “That gave us the ability to deliver an agreement that not only held the line, but made substantial improvements to nearly every area of the contract. Using every tool available, we kept the membership informed during the entire process.”

“Congratulations to the membership, representatives, and District 4 DBR Joe Flanders and his staff,” said Eastern Territory GVP Lynn D. Tucker, Jr.” “BR Rick Compher and the Negotiating Committee were not only prepared, but provided solid leadership in these talks and the proof is in the results.”
