Minnesota Mechanics Ink New Three-year Deal

Members of Twin Cities Automotive Lodge 737 in St. Paul-Minneapolis, MN, ratified a new three-year agreement with the St. Paul Automobile Dealers Association. There are 545 members in Local 737 at 22 locations in the St. Paul – Minneapolis, MN metro area.

The new agreement includes a two percent general wage increase each year, significant employer contributions to the health and welfare trust each year and an increased employer contribution to the IAM National Pension Fund in each year of the three-year agreement.

“The bargaining committee did a great job. They stuck together and brought a good agreement to the members to vote on,” said IAM District 77 Directing Business Representative Don Yetman. “Considering all the turmoil in the automotive industry, two manufacturers in bankruptcy, and a banking crisis that led to a recession in the last two years, this is a very good settlement.”

IAM Midwest Territory GVP Philip J. Gruber praised all those involved saying, “Our members at Local 737 have hung tough over the last few years. They even took a one year wage freeze in 2009 due to the uncertain and difficult economic conditions.  The district staff and local committee did a great job in bringing back a contract worthy of ratification.”
