Momentum Builds for 10.2.10 March on Washington

With just two and a half weeks to go, the IAM and scores of like-minded supporters of One Nation Working Together are ratcheting up their energies and resources for what is expected to be one of the largest public events in decades, the October 2, 2010 March on Washington.

In addition to the Machinists Union, participants include dozens of fellow AFL-CIO unions, along with major civil rights, religious and environmental organizations. 10.2.10, as the event has come to be known, is a combination of the March on D.C. and scores of local events being held in communities throughout America, all happening on October 2.

One Nation, as stated on their website, is a “ movement of individuals and organizations committed to putting America back to work and pulling America back together. Coming from a diverse set of backgrounds, experiences, beliefs and orientations, we are determined to build a more united country with good jobs, equal justice, and quality public education for all.

And on 11-2-10, we will march again – into the voting booths. We will bring our families, our friends and our neighbors. And once the ballots are counted, we will keep organizing, we will hold our leaders accountable, and we will keep making our dream real.”
