Members of the bargaining committee representing IAM members at M1 Support Services took part in realistic mock negotiations during the Bargaining Prep Program at the Winpisinger Center in Southern Maryland.

A five-member negotiating committee, representing 163 IAM members in five separate states, recently participated in the William W. Winpisinger Center Bargaining Prep Program to train, plan and build negotiating strategies for upcoming talks with their employer.

The bargaining unit includes members who are employed by M1 Support Services and provide maintenance on the T-38 Companion Trainer aircraft at Beale AFB, CA, Holloman AFB, NM, Langley AFB, VA, Tyndall AFB, FL and Whiteman AFB, MO.

The bargaining committee was joined by Aerospace Coordinator Jody Bennett, DBR Joe Capra from Local 778, DBR Larry Young from District74, DBR Charles “Jay” Jaramillo from Local 2515, DBR Steve Pridgen from District 75 and BR Stephen P. Jordan from District 75 to assist in preparations for the upcoming negotiations.

The committee went through the entire process of negotiations from costing, strategic planning and presenting proposals, to a mock negotiation. “The Committee got a real taste of what it’s like to be at the negotiation table,” said Aerospace Coordinator Jody Bennett. “Everyone who participated came away with a new respect for the bargaining process.”

The IAM Committee included David Hatcher and Gerry Krautheim of Local 2515 in Alamogordo, MN, James Sollars of Local 778 in Kansas City, MO, Mason Lucas of Local 449 in Panama City, FL and Kevin Surface of Local 2531 in Hampton, VA.
