In honor of National First Responders Day, the IAM remembers Keith Maynard, a former IAM airline member in New York who assisted the IAM in an organizing drive at Continental Airlines in the 1990s. By 2001, Maynard achieved his dream of becoming a New York City Firefighter. On 9/11, Maynard tragically lost his life while trying to rescue victims inside the World Trade Center.
