National Freight Rail Negotiations Begin

Negotiations with the nation’s major freight railroads over TCU’s November 1, 2004 Section Six Notices. TCU Clerk and Carmen representatives, lead by International President Bob Scardelletti and Carmen Division President Rich Johnson, met with representatives of the National Carriers’ Conference Committee on January 25th and 26th.

Discussions were held on all issues in both the section 6 notices served by TCU and those served by the Carriers. Tuesday’s meeting was spent on health and welfare and insurance issues, while the meeting on Wednesday was devoted to wages and rules.

The parties have agreed to resume negotiations in February and have set dates in February and March for further meetings. February 17th is the next scheduled date.
