New Survey Details Top Workplace Injuries

More than one in five Americans say they have been injured on the job, says a new survey conducted by FindLaw.com.

According to the survey, 21 percent of American adults have taken time off work because of an injury suffered while on the job.

The top three injuries were slips and falls, 31 percent, repetitive motion injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, 20 percent, and machinery or being struck by an object, 17 percent.

“Work-related injuries and illnesses tallied three million last year,” says IAM Safety and Health Director Michael Flynn. “Thousands were killed. The IAM has succeeded in winning protections for our members, but our work is far from over. We must continue to speak up on job safety concerns, bargain for better protections, and ensure every worker’s right to a safe workplace.”
