New York Member Dies in Workplace Accident

Donald “Don” Gadley, a 20-year member of IAM Local 1580, died from injuries sustained while at work last week. He was employed by Dresser-Rand in Wellsville, NY.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family,” said IAM Eastern Territory GVP Lynn Tucker. “Going to work everyday to provide for your family is a basic human right. Returning home safely each day is a reasonable expectation.”

OSHA officials arrived the scene almost immediately and requested the assistance of IAM representatives.

“OSHA has asked that we assist in the investigation, and to provide our immediate findings to them as well,” said District Lodge 65 Business Representative Ron Warner.  “We will do everything possible to ensure the safety of our members. The tragic loss of our friend and brother Don Gadley is immeasurable; however, there’s no comparison to the pain and grief being suffered by his family.”
