NFFE-IAM Army Depot Workers in Pennsylvania Score Major Pay Boost

NFFE-IAM Members at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA, will see pay increases as a result of a much-needed expansion of the government’s locality pay system.

Effective January 1, 2016, NFFE-IAM members at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA began seeing major benefit increases from an expansion to the General Schedule locality pay system of the Office of Personnel Management.

The increases follow years of advocacy by NFFE-IAM and other union allies pushing for a much-needed expansion of the locality pay system. While employees around the country see benefits from the new and expanded pay localities, Letterkenny workers have now been placed in “Washington-Baltimore” pay area. The change resulted in a sizable pay bump from their previous “Rest of U.S.” locality.

NFFE-IAM Local 1442 members won increases at the start of 2016 and Local 1429 members, also at Letterkenny, will also see a significant pay boost in March when the regional wage survey is completed. All told, hundreds of NFFE-IAM members will be earning higher wages in 2016 because of the hard work of local officers, the NFFE-IAM and union allies.

“This is a huge win for the WG workers at Letterkenny,” said NFFE-IAM Local 1429 President Chris Barlow. “In recent years, the increased cost of living was greatly outpacing the minor pay adjustments our members had been receiving. Employees were ecstatic to hear the news of this pay raise. Being a dues-paying NFFE-IAM member really does pay, and this pay bump is the clearest example of that.”
