Ohio District 54 Scores Service Contract Victory

The IAM District 54 Negotiating Committee achieved important improvements in a newly-ratified agreement with Wolf Creek Federal Services at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH.

The 67 recently-organized members ratified a first contract containing a solid package of benefits, including a defined benefit pension, a 401(k) plan and pay increases as high as $7 an hour for some members.

The three-year contract, negotiated under Service Contract Act (SCA) guidelines, covers workers previously represented by IBT and employed by Wolf Creek Federal Services, a contractor at Glenn Research Center. All members will receive a minimum wage hike of 2.5 percent in the first year, 3 percent in the second, and 2 percent in the third.

“The Negotiating Committee and the membership were focused and confident throughout these negotiations,” said District 54 President T. Dean Wright, Jr. “From the week of preparation at the Winpisinger Center right up to the ratification meeting, it was clear the IAM understood how to make the SCA work for its members.”

In addition to immediate wage increases, the Committee also negotiated the inclusion of the IAM National Pension Fund and the IAM Employee Benefit System.

“Congratulations to Lead Negotiator Wright and District 54 Business Representative Jack Baker,” said Eastern Territory General Vice President Lynn D. Tucker, Jr. “The entire Negotiating Committee worked hard, stayed on target for these negotiations and the proof is in the results. The IAM is second to none in Service Contract Act (SCA) agreements.”
