Pawlenty Endorses Union of Unemployed?

Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty came very close to endorsing the Union of Unemployed, nicknamed UCubed. “While not a full-throated endorsement,” explained UCubed Executive Director Rick Sloan, “the former Minnesota governor is whispering our tune.”

In an internet ad released by Pawlenty’s presidential campaign, snippets of UCubed’s Bite Back ad and its moving map of unemployment at the county level made cameo appearances. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” said Sloan. “And we’re flattered that a presidential campaign borrowed our material. We only wish that the Obama campaign had beaten Pawlenty to the punch.”

“Jobless Americans are the new swing voters. According to last November’s exit polls, jobless households made up 30 percent of the national electorate, and split 50 to 46 in favor of Democratic congressional candidates,” said Sloan. “Those jobless voters are still jobless. And they’re still waiting for politicians at all levels to stop just talking about jobs and start putting Americans back to work.”
