Her decision to become a VA nurse was deeply rooted in generations of family members who served in the military.

“There’s a very soft spot in my heart for veterans,” said LaSala. “I really do think I am here because of the sacrifices that they have made.”

LaSala serves as president of NFFE-IAM Local 1 and strongly defends the employees she represents and the veterans they help.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the work we do here in San Francisco,” said LaSala. “I just think that the federal workforce and the Department of Veterans Affairs, given all this recent ‘hub bub’, are just easy targets.”

NFFE-IAM represents approximately 110,000 government workers across the United States.
