One hundred and seventy six workers at Defense Support Services at Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach, FL, voted recently to be represented by the Machinists Union. The workers perform maintenance and repair for the C-130 aircraft at the base.
A team from District 75 in Daleville, AL, including Business Representatives Tony Wirth, Steve Jordan and Mike Cooke led the organizing effort. The workers joined because they wanted fair and respectful treatment in the workplace and because they wanted the improved pay and benefits that an IAM contract can bring.
“Congratulations to the organizing team,” said Southern Territory GVP Bob Martinez. “I want to welcome our newest members, who will join the thousands of Service Contract workers represented by District 75 in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.”
