The importance of union solidarity across international borders was apparent when staff members from the Swedish labor union IF Metall recently visited IAM Headquarters.

Aleksandar Zusa and Erica Sj?lander, economists for the Swedish metalworkers’ union, visited with various IAM departments to learn about organizing and collective bargaining practices in the United States.
“What happens here impacts us back home,” said Zusa. “We really have to stick together for workers’ rights.”
One of the goals of their visit was to clear up misperceptions of the American manufacturing environment. They also hope to help organize Swedish-owned plants here in the United States.
