Join UCubed and The American 99ers Union tomorrow, Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in telling your Senators to vote “yes” on The Americans Want to Work Act – a bill to create a Tier 5 of unemployment insurance for those who have exhausted their 99 weeks of benefits.
Advocates for the “99ers” are being asked to email, call and fax their Senators between the hours of 9am and 9pm demanding immediate passage of the bill.
This collective effort could benefit as many as 2 million Americans – if not more. Many of these former workers were among the first to be let go from their employers during the start of this Great Recession. They’ve since spent the last two years or more searching for jobs that don’t exist. And now, they have zero income. They need our help.
