TCU Manpower Training Department Has Another Good Year

Last year proved to be a breakout year for the TCU Manpower Training Department in the Transportation Industry. TCU Job Corps Centers placed 133 graduates in transportation careers at an average rate of pay of $12.08 per hour. Another 149 were placed in training related positions, with a combined total of 282 graduates earning an average of $10.57per hour. Add to this figure another 60 graduates placed in other positions and this makes a combined total of 342 career placements for the Manpower Training Department.

In the rail industry the TCU Job Corps program successfully trained and placed students on career positions with Amtrak, Norfolk Southern, CSX – Transportation, CP Railway, and the Union Pacific. TCU Job Corps also placed students with 8 airlines- Air Wisconsin, Frontier, Independence Air, Mesa, Mesaba Airlines, Skywest, Southwest and United Airlines.

In March 2005 TCU placed the 1000th TCU student on Amtrak. Ciji Scott, Excelsior Springs TCU graduate has this honor and is working on AMTRAK’s Auto Train in Lorton, VA.
