Tell Congress to Extend Federal Unemployment Benefits

Nearly 1.3 million jobless Americans are expected to lose their federal unemployment benefits just after the Christmas holiday unless Congress acts by December 28, 2013. Another 1.9 million are expected to lose their benefits by June 2014.

After changes to the program in early 2012, there is no longer any phase-out for federal unemployment insurance. Every individual now receiving federal benefits will lose them the same week.

Allowing unemployment benefits to expire for folks who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own will hurt the jobless, their families, as well as the struggling economy.

Congress must extend federal unemployment benefits for the nation’s jobless until lawmakers are fully committed to enacting robust, meaningful jobs legislation. Urge your Senators and Representative to extend federal unemployment benefits today by clicking here.
