Tell Congress to Vote ‘No’ on SKILLS Act, Welfare Work Requirement Bill

Congress is threatening to pass two bills that would make it harder for Americans to get access to job training and welfare when they need it most.

The Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills (SKILLS) Act, which passed the House last week, would turn funding for federal workforce programs into a block grant, jeopardizing protections that give Americans access to job training.

The Preserving Work Requirements for Welfare Programs Act of 2013 prohibits the Obama administration from granting waivers to the work requirements contained in the welfare reform law and cuts unemployment benefits for many Americans.
