Tell the House to Extend Unemployment Insurance Benefits

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) refuses to take up a Senate bill aimed at extending federal unemployment insurance benefits for the jobless.

Nearly 2.8 million Americans have lost their economic lifeline since House Republican leaders forced unemployment insurance benefits to expire last December.

The Senate voted 59 to 38 to extend those benefits – with back pay.

It’s now up to the House, which is preparing to leave town for a two-week recess.

Boehner and GOP leaders must not be allowed to leave the unemployed out to dry.
