IAM Local 623 Members H.E.L.P. St. Cloud, Minnesota Elderly Couple in Need

IAM Local 623 volunteers sprung into action, spending two days insulating and sheet-rocking a local elderly couple’s attached garage, providing the disabled wife, unable to leave home, a warm place to exercise during the winter months.

IAM Local 623 of St. Cloud, MN recently helped a local nursing home and long-term care facility by volunteering to provide a local elderly couple a warm place to exercise without having to leave their home.

The wife of the couple suffers from a number of disabilities which require her to stay active. Unable to go outside, the wife would exercise in the couple’s attached garage – but Minnesota’s cold weather made that nearly impossible during the winter months.

In working with the Assumption Community’s Faith in Action program in Cold Spring, MN, IAM Local 623 volunteers sprung into action, spending two days insulating and sheet-rocking the couple’s home garage.

The effort was a part of the IAM Midwest Territory’s “IAM H.E.L.P.S. in the Community” program. H.E.L.P.S. stands for Honoring, Engaging, Lifting, Providing and Servicing.

“Congratulations on another great IAM H.E.L.P.S. event IAM Local 623,” said IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Steve Galloway. “From park cleanups to helping local immigrant families, Local 623 continues to explore new ways to give back to the St. Cloud, Minnesota community.”
