IAM Local 1406 member Trevar Smedal was one of four union members who took part in “The Call to Unite,” a 24-hour star-studded live stream created by former television host Oprah Winfrey and disability rights activist Tim Shriver to unite the country in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
The program included inspiring stories, song, dance, meditation, and prayers from dozens of stars from around the country, including a special segment dedicated to union members working tirelessly on the ground to keep America going.
Smedal (top right) and more than 450 IAM members build ventilators for GE Healthcare in Madison, WI. The ventilators are desperately needed by hospitals around the world treating COVID-19 patients.
