IAM Statement on the Shooting at Henry Pratt Company in Aurora, IL

February 16, 2019 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) releases the following statement on the shooting at Henry Pratt Company in Aurora, IL. The more than 60 IAM members who work at the facility make specialized valves for municipal water systems. They are represented by IAM Local 1202 in Aurora, IL.

“The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific tragedy that occurred Friday at the Henry Pratt Company in Aurora, Illinois. We want to express our deepest condolences to the victims, their families, the members of IAM Local 1202, the first responders and all those affected by this senseless act of violence. This tragic event cuts deep. The lives taken were not just those of co-workers – they were family. We are working closely with the company and are in the process of deploying resources and counselors from the IAM Employee Assistance Program, as we know many of our members may need extra support in dealing with this tragedy.”
