Members of IAM Local 153, District 90, recently voted in favor of a new three-year contract with Silgan White Cap, a lid-maker for food and beverage containers, in Evansville, IN.
The new agreement includes wage increases, no changes to the IAM National Pension Plan, and improved health care at a lower cost. The average wage increase for the more than 180 members, including lower health care, will be $0.90 per hour.
“Congratulations to the members and entire bargaining committee of IAM Local 153 on ratifying a new three-year agreement,” said IAM District 90 Directing Business Representative Tony Wickersham. “Improvements in wages, insurance, working conditions and the ability to maintain the IAM pension are the benefits of having a union.
“I would like to thank Midwest Territory General Vice President Philip J. Gruber for providing the assistance of Grand Lodge Representative Marty St. Peters and District 90 Trustee David Gault for their hard work and leadership in assisting the committee during negotiations.”
