A statement from IAM International President Robert Martinez Jr on the impending closing of the Burlington, Iowa Siemens plant on Friday, December 21, 2018, and the subsequent displacement of members of IAM Local 1010:
“Machinists Union members at Siemens facilities in New York, Ohio and now Iowa are picking up the pieces as this company shutters factories. I am wondering what good these tax breaks are doing if we continue to see our members get pink slips and communities upended in the name of corporate greed. We will continue our efforts using every resource necessary to help these members and their families recover from this disruption to their lives.”
