Puerto Rico Airport Rescue Firefighters Overwhelmingly Vote to Join the IAM

On Nov. 9, a group of 18 Airport Rescue Firefighters at Luis Muñoz Marin Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, made history by joining IAM Puerto Rico in their fight for workplace improvements.

“The IAM’s support will help these workers receive the job respect they deserve,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Craig Martin. “We look forward to bargaining a first contract that recognizes their hard work and their role in keeping the airport safe.”

These proud new IAM members joined our union seeking to improve their workplace conditions, increase their pay, and secure long-term careers. These workers intend to address these and other vital issues as they negotiate their first contract.
