Fulltime Organizers from the Southern Territory recently took part in the IAM Organizing Department’s initial, unique program to train organizers and IAM representatives who want to learn about the practical elements of an organizing campaign. The three-day Basic Training for Organizers Program, held at the territory’s office, is part of the IAM CORP (Comprehensive Organizing Restructuring Plan).
The program is an interactive experience challenging the participants to think strategically according to their specific organizing campaign situation. It will incorporate campaign variables that organizers experience in actual organizing campaigns, which will help hone the students’ decision-making process for their organizing campaigns.
“The content of the material and professionalism that Brother Addeo and his staff displayed was beyond our expectations,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Rickey Wallace. “Our territory organizers were completely immersed in the training, and the interaction and participation were refreshing. Brother Addeo’s staff had the patience, knowledge, and experience to make our organizers feel comfortable asking questions and hungry to learn from them. I hope that every territory will take advantage of this training.”
The class will be taught by IAM Organizing Director Vinny Addeo and the Organizing Department Staff/Legal Department so the participants will receive “first-hand” organizing experiences.
“This training focuses on the practical aspects of running an organizing campaign from the beginning to the end, something most organizers have never done before, said IAM Organizing Director Vinny Addeo. “I was extremely pleased with how our first class went, and I can’t wait to roll this out to all the territories. I would like to thank our team in the Organizing Department for their passion and commitment to this new style of organizing training. Their professional presentations and shared experiences are a major contributor to the program’s success. Many thanks to GVP Wallace and the Southern Territory members who participated.”
The program incorporates PowerPoint presentations, videos, organizing campaign interactive exercises, role-playing, and real-life organizer experiences to provide the participants with the practical knowledge, experience, techniques, strategies, and tools needed to run a successful organizing campaign from its onset to conclusion.
