A tentative new five-year national rail agreement covering wages, benefits and working conditions has been reached between the UTU and the National Carriers’ Conference Committee (NCCC).
No details of the tentative agreement have been released pending a meeting of the Association of UTU General Chairpersons.
TCU is currently bargaining in coalition with ATDA, IAM, IBEW, and TWU – each one has asked the NMB to proffer arbitration as the negotiations have stalled.
“TCU is hopeful that this agreement will strengthen our negotiations, but we are adamant that health care is but one part of our overall compensation package,” said TCU President Bob Scardelletti. “There can be no possible justification for concessions when the carriers are enjoying record profits today and their economic outlook for the future has never been brighter.”
