Transportation Department Airline Coordinator Ira Levy announced his retirement after 38 years of service, effective September 30, 2015.
“The IAM will miss Ira’s vast knowledge and experience,” said General Vice President Sito Pantoja. “He has done a journeyman’s job for our members and I thank him for his service to our union.”
Levy began his career in 1976 as a Ramp Serviceman for United Airlines and a member of Air Transport Lodge 1322 in New York City. Ira then relocated to Denver and became a member of Local Lodge 1886 and was elected as Shop Steward, Ramp Committeeman and Committee Chairman.
Levy was elected District Lodge 141 Assistant General Chairman in 1995 and was re-elected each cycle until he was appointed as a Grand Lodge Representative in 2007. Ira served as Airline Coordinator since 2013.
Ira will enjoy his retirement with his wife Audrey and son Jeremy.
