NMB Authorizes Election at US Airways

“The Teamsters have a history of promising long and delivering short,” said General Vice President Sito Pantoja. “Not to mention the $3 million of dues money spent for federal oversight due to corruption and the financial implosion of Teamster sponsored pension plans, which has prompted the Teamsters to seek to cut the retirement benefits of its own members.”
Election dates are expected to be announced by the NMB in the near future and ballots will be mailed to eligible voters shortly thereafter.
“IAM Mechanic and Related workers at US Airways have a lot to defend and a lot  lose in this election, including their pensions and job-security,” said IAM District 142 President Tom Higginbotham. “The Machinists Union has already guaranteed the seniority and protected the pensions of IAM members at US Airways and the merger with American Airlines hasn’t even been concluded.”
