Citing respect and fairness on the job, 120 Aircraft Fuelers employed at Swissport voted by a 98 percent margin for IAM representation.
The Phoenix-based Fuelers also stated that by forming a union they would be able to negotiate guaranteed wage increases, improve workplace safety and enhance benefits so they could spend more time with their families.
“I’d like to welcome these courageous workers into the IAM family,” said General Vice President Sito Pantoja. “The IAM will do everything possible so that these workers attain the first contract that reflects the respect and dignity at the workplace they deserve.”
The Fuelers will now enter the next phase of their campaign and begin preparations for first contract negotiations.
“I’d also like to thank IAM District 142 and the Organizing Department for doing such an outstanding job on this campaign,” continued Pantoja.
