The Negotiating Committee for District 776 in Fort Worth TX met last week at the William W. Winpisinger Center to prepare for upcoming negotiations with Lockheed Martin on behalf of 3,000 IAM members who build the cutting-edge F-35 fighter. The contract expires July 3, 2016.
The nine-member committee met with Southern Territory GVP Mark Blondin, Aerospace Coordinators Terry Smith and Jody Bennett, Communications Representative Bob Wood, Southern Territory Educator James Little, Southern Territory GLR James Parker and Winpisinger Staff. Headquarters GVP Bob Martinez also met with the committee during the week.
The committee examined issues of law and collective bargaining, bargaining strategies, membership communications and mobilization, in addition to building a comprehensive strategic plan for the negotiations.
“We met a full year before the contract expires to ready our committee and our membership,” said Aerospace Coordinator Terry Smith. “Our membership in Ft. Worth has serious issues that need to be resolved in these negotiations, and we built a strong strategic plan, which is essential to negotiating a successful contract.”
