“This local came to us and told us about a thousand workers needed a union,” said Blondin, who made the presentation during a meeting with Local 2189 leadership and stewards. “They were instrumental in helping us organize this unit. We couldn’t have done it without them.”

Workers at URS recently attended negotiations preparation training at the William W. Winpisinger Center late last year and are currently in negotiations with the company for a first contract. Organizing efforts for hundreds more workers at other companies are ongoing at Red River.

The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) is an IAM-affiliated national union representing approximately 110,000 blue and white collar government workers across the United States.
