The Union of Unemployed (UCubed) this week announced its BEE MAD @ THE GOP campaign swept past the one million views mark in videos delivered directly to its Facebook fans and their friends.

“This is an incredible and unbelievable accomplishment for a GOTV effort,” said UCubed Executive Director Rick Sloan. “Unlike traditional GOTV campaigns consisting of door-to-door canvassing and phone banking, BEE MAD @ THE GOP encourages jobless voters to use micro-videos uploaded to its Facebook page as a campaigning tool.”

The campaign’s target audience is the 122,000 jobless Americans who have ‘liked’ the UCubed Facebook page and, equally important, their 32.4 million friends. “Our original goal was to reach 12 million ‘friends of fans’ during the last three weeks of the campaign,” said Sloan. “And UCubed will meet that objective.”

With over 122,000 activists who regularly connect with over 32.4 million Facebook friends, UCubed represents a significant demographic in the upcoming elections. UCubed was formed to assist the millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans, and to provide a structure that allows them to take advantage of their growing numbers.
