International President Tom Buffenbarger has appointed Rickey Wallace from Tennessee District 711 as a Special Representative on the Southern Territory Staff, effective December 1, 2015.

Wallace is a 35-year IAM member who initiated into Local 1296 in Clarksville, TN in 1980. He became active in his local as a shop steward and was later elected to the Executive Board and District Delegate to former District 155 in 1986.

In 1991 Wallace was elected as President of his Local Lodge and served as a Delegate to the IAM Grand Lodge Convention in 1988, 1992 and 1996. In 1995 Wallace was elected as Business Representative in the former District 155 (now District 711) and held that position until he was appointed Assistant Directing Business Representative in 2008. In April 2009 Wallace was elected President and Directing Business Representative.

In 2009 Wallace was appointed by General Vice President Bob Martinez as President to the newly-formed Southern States Conference of Machinists. He was elected to the same position in 2010.

“Brother Wallace brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to our staff,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Mark Blondin. “He’s a proven leader and I’m proud to bring him onto our team in the Southern Territory.”
