“We don’t have whitetail out here in California,” says Bolton. “When I got the call, I knew I could not pass up the trip. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Clayton Bolton anticipates putting his first whitetail buck on the ground.

Bolton credits his father for his appreciation of the outdoors and teaching him how to be what he calls a “bargain hunter,” someone who eats what he hunts.

“He taught me how to hunt with anything that will shoot straight,” says Bolton. “He also taught me how to fly.”

Just like his father, he took his first solo flight on his 16th birthday. Bolton earned his and Airframe and Powerplant license in 1984. He currently works at Aerojet Rocketdyne as a test and assembly technician and serves on his Local’s negotiating committee.

Bolton strongly supports USA and its vision to unite the union community and preserve North America’s outdoor heritage through conservation and education. He and his wife Donna raised twin daughters to share their love of nature.

“I don’t know how to describe this whole experience,” says Bolton. “The hosts made me feel really comfortable. This is a wonderful memory that I’ll always have.”
