IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger announced the appointment of District 75 Business Representative Anthony Wirth to Southern Territory Special Representative, effective February 1, 2015.
Wirth, an aircraft painter by trade and a charter member of IAM Local 20 in Niceville, FL, helped organize his bargaining unit at Eglin Air Force Base while they were employees of DynCorp International. He was an immediate member of the unit’s Negotiating Committee and was elected the first Secretary-Treasurer of the new Local. Wirth would go on to serve as a District 75 Trustee and a Delegate to the Florida State Council of Machinists before being elected District 75 Business Representative in 2008.
“Brother Wirth has all the tools, including proven experience in organizing, negotiating and Service Contract work,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Mark Blondin. “I know he will hit the ground running and be a great member of our team.”
