Ashley Gunckel

Ashley Gunckel‘s journey with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) began in 2012 when she was initiated into Long Beach Public Employees Local 1930. From the outset, she demonstrated a deep commitment to the union, serving as a Steward and Trustee while also playing a key role in establishing the Local 1930 Women’s Committee. Gunckel‘s passion for labor advocacy and leadership quickly grew, and in 2017, she was appointed as a Business Representative for District 947. In this capacity, she made history by becoming the first Local 1930 member to negotiate their contract with the City of Long Beach.

Beyond her responsibilities at the District and Local levels, Gunckel has been an influential figure within the larger IAM community. She has served as Sergeant at Arms for the last two Grand Lodge Conventions and has been a dedicated mentor in the IAM Leadership Excellence Assembly of Dedicated Sisters (LEADS) program, guiding the next generation of female labor leaders.

Recognized for her unique talents, skillsets, and perspectives, Gunckel has earned high praise from IAM Western Territory General Vice President Gary R. Allen. He acknowledged her pivotal role in shaping the future of both the IAM Western Territory and the union as a whole.

Through her leadership and commitment to the labor movement, Ashley Gunckel continues to inspire others and leaves a lasting impact on her union and the community she serves.
