DeLane Adams was appointed assistant communications director by International President Robert Martinez, Jr. in March 2021. DeLane most recently served as Senior Executive Vice President at 617MediaGroup, a full-service labor communications agency. DeLane was initiated as a Communications Representative at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Worker in April 2017. Adams previously worked as the National AFL-CIO Field Communications Coordinator for the 13-state Southern Region. Before working with the national AFL-CIO, Adams served as Georgia AFL-CIO’s Communications Director and Lobbyist in Atlanta and as the Legislative Director for Citizen Action/Illinois in Chicago. Adams has more than two decades of experience working throughout the country in local and national political campaigns and in county government. DeLane previously served on the International Labor Communications Association’s Executive Council. He is a member of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. DeLane’s writing has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, The Hill, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and more. Adams received his bachelors degree from Florida A&M University, and he graduated from Bartlett High School in Anchorage, Alaska.
