Sister Merced is a proud Navy Veteran from San Diego, California, with a background in the aerospace industry, where she worked on MH-60 Romeo Helicopters. Merced joined HSM-41 in April 2021, where she was elected as Shop Steward for her department with Local 1125.
In her role as Shop Steward, Merced had the opportunity to assist in two leadership training courses at the Winpisinger Center, including the Spanish Leadership 2 class. It was during this time that the position of Associate Organizer was introduced. Merced was appointed to the Organizing Department in May of 2023
In March 2024, Merced transitioned to the Western Territory, where she has worked on a wide range of campaigns across public, private, federal, and non-profit sectors.
Merced is passionate about advocating for and empowering the workforce, and I look forward to continuing to grow in knowledge and contribute to strengthening the labor movement.
