Washington, D.C., December 07, 2011 – A key figure in the negotiations that led to the landmark agreement between the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Boeing Company today welcomed the vote by members to ratify the accord and predicted additional benefits beyond the terms of the contract.
Seattle, WA, November 30, 2011 -- Machinists Union members will vote next week on a four-year contract extension that includes a commitment by the Boeing Co. to build its 737 MAX passenger jet in Washington state. Leaders of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) said the tentative agreement also would ensure continuation of wide-body aircraft work in Puget Sound.
Washington -- “There are 159,000 good reasons why Congress should oppose the South Korea Free Trade Agreement. That’s how many U.S. workers will lose their jobs if this deeply-flawed trade accord is implemented,” said International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) President Tom Buffenbarger at a Washington D.C. rally to oppose the South Korea, Colombia and Panama Free Trade Agreements.
Washington D.C., September 20, 2011 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today filed an application with the National Mediation Board (NMB) asking the Board to rule that United Airlines, Continental Airlines and Continental Micronesia are now operating as a single transportation system for union representation purposes in the Passenger Service classification. Such a ruling is a necessary first step before union representation issues can be resolved.

Washington, D.C., June 17, 2011 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today released a letter sent to the Senate Select Committee on Ethics calling for an investigation into South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham’s conduct and statements regarding the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) pending complaint against the Boeing Company.
June 13, 2011-The National Mediation Board (NMB) today set July 7, 2011 as the starting date for a five-week election that can establish the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) as the collective bargaining representative for 14,300 Ramp/Fleet Service workers at the recently merged United and Continental Airlines.
Washington, D.C., April 28, 2011 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) welcomed today’s National Mediation Board (NMB) single carrier ruling for the Ramp and Fleet Service classifications at the recently combined United Airlines and Continental Airlines.
Washington, D.C., April 26, 2011 – The National Mediation Board (NMB) today authorized a representation election that could establish the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) as the sole collective bargaining representative for 24,605 Flight Attendants at the recently merged United-Continental Airlines. Election dates will be set later this week, according to the NMB.
Washington, D.C., April 20, 2011 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today welcomed the decision by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to issue a complaint charging the Boeing Company with illegal retaliation against Boeing employees in the Puget Sound area. According to the NLRB, Boeing’s conduct was “inherently destructive” of rights guaranteed to workers.

Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) will continue to lobby lawmakers
to prevent any repeal of majority voting rights recently granted to
airline and rail workers by the National Mediation Board.
Washington, D.C., March 28, 2011 – The International Association
of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today announced AirTran
Airline’s 2,900 Fleet and Passenger Service/Reservation employees have
voted to join the Machinists Union.
The following is a statement from International Association of

response to the move by the Wisconsin state Senate to strip public
employees of their collective bargaining rights:
“Last night in Wisconsin, legislative process trumped democratic
principles. Republican Senators voted 18 to 1 to strip public employees
of their collective bargaining rights. It is a Pyrrhic victory and one
the GOP will regret.

the coalition of union members on the front lines in Wisconsin and

that Flight Attendants at Continental Airlines have voted to ratify a
new interim collective bargaining agreement that will raise their top
base pay to $52.53 per hour while providing a no-furlough guarantee for
the duration of the accord.

Department of Defense’s decision to award the Boeing Company with a
contract to build a new fleet of air-to-air refueling tankers for the

National Mediation Board (NMB) today acted on an International
Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) application and
ordered a union representation election for more than 14,000 Fleet
Service Workers at Delta Air Lines.
"This election is only possible because of the overwhelming support from
Delta Fleet Service workers," said General Vice President Robert Roach,
Jr. "Delta workers have been very receptive of the IAM’s message of
fairness on the job, guaranteed wages and secure pensions."
