IAM Local 2198 Young Workers Host Inaugural Dora Cervantes Bowling Fundraiser for GLC/TLC

The IAM Local 2198 Young Workers Committee recently hosted its Inaugural Dora Cervantes Bowling Fundraiser to benefit Guide Dogs of America – Tender Loving Canines (GDA/TLC), bringing together IAM Union members, families, and community supporters for a day of fun and solidarity.

The event honored IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes for her longstanding commitment to supporting GDA/TLC and empowering the next generation of union leaders.

“It’s deeply moving to see young members take the initiative to give back in such a meaningful way,” said Cervantes. “This charity has always represented compassion and purpose, and our IAM family continues to make sure that mission thrives.”

All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly toward GDA/TLC, which provides service dogs to veterans, individuals who are blind or visually impaired, and children with autism – free of charge.

“Our young workers are showing what the future of this union looks like: strong, compassionate, and community-minded,” said IAM Women’s and Young Workers Director Julie Frietchen. “They’re carrying forward the IAM’s legacy of service and solidarity while creating their own path of leadership.”

IAM Local 2198 Young Workers Committee plans to make the bowling event an annual tradition, building on this year’s success to raise even greater awareness and support for GDA/TLC and its life-changing mission.
