The IAM Union continues its leadership development opportunities for French-speaking members through its specialized French Leadership Program at the William W. Winpisinger Education Center in Hollywood, Md.
Conducted entirely in French, the program provides members with an immersive learning environment where they can explore union history, IAM structure, grievance handling, local lodge operations, communication, organizing and negotiation preparation without the barrier of a second language.
The program uses both classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, including simulated general assemblies, to help members develop the confidence and practical skills needed to effectively represent their coworkers.
The recent Leadership 2 and 4 have served as a foundation, covering union fundamentals, local lodge operations, and the responsibilities of a union steward. Members advance to higher levels focusing on recruitment, negotiations, collaboration and strategic leadership.
The four-part program reflects the IAM’s commitment to developing strong leaders throughout its diverse membership while ensuring language is not a barrier to effective union education and representation.
