IAM District 142 members are once again putting their support behind an organization that changes lives through the power of service dogs.

District 142 recently held a charity golf outing at Ravens Golf Course in Phoenix, Ariz., raising funds and awareness for the IAM’s favorite charity, Guide Dogs of America and Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC).

GDA | TLC provide specially trained service animals to people facing a variety of challenges — including visual impairments, autism, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

District 142 organizers say these dogs can make a significant difference in the lives of the people they serve, helping recipients gain greater independence and reconnect with their communities.

One example highlighted during the event involved a child named Jackson with autism whose service dog, Brooklyn, helped bring stability to his daily life. After being paired with his dog, he was able to return to school, make significant academic progress and take part in activities and travel that had previously been difficult.
