January 2007 Sister of the Month
Linda M. Donahoe

donahoeSister Linda M. Donahoe is the Communicator for IAM District Lodge 166 in Cape Canaveral, Florida.  In addition, she’s served as a Steward for IAM Local 2061 for the past 16 years and has also held many positions ranging from Women’s Committee Chair (Local and District), Local Lodge Trustee, Recording Secretary and Secretary-Treasurer.

Sister Linda was hired 17 years ago as a Logistics Driver at Kennedy Space Center (KSC).  She’d had many years experience as a package delivery driver, but admits the physical demands of her job at KSC made her question her career choice those first few days.  Her “Never Give Up” attitude got her through and is what made her successful in her union involvement.

Currently responsible for purchasing materials within the Logistics area at KSC, Sister Linda readily admits that she received a lot of support and encouragement from her union brothers.  She advises her IAM Sisters to remember, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so keep on squeaking.”  Adding, “You don’t always get what you want, but you should never be afraid to speak up and then listen with an open mind.  If you give up, you will never get anything.”

In her spare time, Sister Linda is the co-owner of Dotty’s Bar in Cape Canaveral.  They offer discounts to union members and feature live entertainment from Blurred Vision – a band featuring two IAM LL 2061 members.  She enjoys riding her Harley Davidson 833 Custom Sportster and relaxing at home.  Sister Linda firmly believes in the value of a good union job and says it is what provides the advantages she currently enjoys.  And if that weren’t enough, she brags the IAM Benefit Pension Plan, “is the best plan ever” and will allow her to retire in 10 years if she chooses.
